The airline, set up under the Air Corporation Act, 1953, with an initial capital of 32 million, started operation on 1 August 1953. The Indian Aviation Industry will become the third-largest market by 2020 and the largest by 2030. Ample employment opportunities are being created in this industry every year. The aviation industry includes many activities and obligations concerning aircraft operation.

1. Ground staff

There are many departments in -ground staff and their salaries are also different. The chief work of ground staff is to take care of aircraft and they look for passengers’ needs and other activities at the airport on the ground. The average salary of ground staff is around Rs. 18000 to Rs. 50,000 in the same department.

But it also varies from airline to airline, like Indigo may pay you higher than Vistara. To become airport ground staff, the minimum qualification required is +2 in any stream. And the age should be 18 to 27 years.

Cabin crew looks after the passenger safety and services. It is considered as one of the exciting jobs amongst girls and it is very glamorous. They greet the passenger when they board and exit the plane. Serving meal and refreshments. You need to be over the age of 18 to become a cabin crew. You can also pursue a diploma in airline and travel management to become a cabin crew.

As a cabin crew, you will get a lot of perks, you can travel the world and have time to stay in the greatest hotel. If we talk about salary then, a fresher cabin crew initially gets a minimum of Rs.30,000 to Rs.60,000. It goes up with the experience in domestic airlines. It also includes layovers, allowance and overtime.

3. Air Traffic controller

ATC is another job in the aviation industry. Its chief work is to navigate the aircraft on the ground and in the sky as well. And they also coordinate with the captain and first officer. ATC’s job is not an easy task. They need to work hard and it becomes very hectic and very crucial in-flight operation. They work systematically. The major goal of an ATC is to ensure the safety of passengers, flight attendants, passengers and many other things. To become ATC, you need a full-time bachelor’s degree in (B. Sc.) With physics and maths with a minimum of 60% marks. ATC is a demanding and rewarding career. The salary of ATC starts from Rs.50,000 to Rs.80,000 ATC officer is an employee Airport Authority of India.

4. Flight dispatcher

Flight dispatcher plays a major role in flight planning. They decide the route and weight and balance of the aircraft and all the other crucial decisions regarding the flight. That is why they also called as captain on the ground. The flight dispatcher is heavily involved in the pre-planning of flights to ensure the safety of the trip. The average salary of a flight dispatcher is around Rs.60,000 to Rs.80,000.

5. Aircraft maintenance engineer

AME looks after the technical part of the aircraft and they also make sure that the aircraft is ready to fly. This is one of the crucial departments. Their work is to make sure that the aircraft is safe and there is no trouble during a flight. The salary of AME is starting from 50k to 1lakh, depending on the number of engine licenses they have. To become an AME, you need to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship. It is not a degree or diploma course, but a training program. During the training, they receive service and maintenance of aircraft trainings to ensure flight safety.
