5 Self-care tips for students during the pandemic

Introduction

The pandemic became more challenging day by day for everyone, especially for students. A study says out of 195 students, 138 students reflected intensified stress and anxiety due to the COVID-19. Students are stressed regarding the evacuation of dormitories and the cancellation of planned activities such as exchange studies and graduation ceremonies. First-year students are stressed about their college life, second-year students are sick of their online classes, while final-year students are stressed about their placements. The lockdown had some serious indications on mental health.

Here are some self-care tips for students:

Be kind to yourself

Give yourself permission to flee and let go for a little period. Take a few minutes and analyze your good qualities. Whenever you do something good, even it’s small, try to appreciate that and proud of it. Try writing down your qualities in your diary. Give yourself a rest. If you are struggling with your sleeping schedule, take some self-care help guide and try to fix it. Sleep at least for 8 hours each night. Show some kindness to yourself when things aren’t going well. Talk to yourself like a good friend. Try to wake up every morning at the same time and do yoga. Read your favorite book and watch some good inspirational movies. Give yourself ‘me time’ every day. Try to put less stress and pressure on yourself.

Maintain connections

During this pandemic when social distancing is very important for our safety. But it is important to maintain connections during this period. Stay connected with them while social distancing. Connect with them digitally can help you stave off that feeling of loneliness. Try to use social platforms positively to communicate with people, learn and share some ideas and skills. Reconnect with your family, cook, and eat together. Play some games together, video games. Try to learn some new and interesting techniques from them, plant a tree and many more things, which you move to your wish list due to lack of time. This is the specific time to complete it. Make a phone call to your close talk to them maybe they feel the same as you are. These little things can help you a lot maintain your mental peace and you feel connected to them.

Take care of your body

It’s pretty much notable that exercise is good for both our physical and mental health. During this pandemic, try waking up early in the morning, doing some yoga, and exercise. Take help from YouTube. Eat a healthy diet and provide yourself a form which you have always dreamed of. Think to do it when you have some time. Follow your diet and exercise passionately. When you observe some changes in your body, then you automatically cheer up. You feel so happy and proud of yourself. Meditate daily at least for 10 min to soothes your mental health. Do this little stuff to take of your body during this lockdown period.

Take a break from the news and fake social media

We’re all feeling inundated by coronavirus updates right now. We need to stay informed about what is going on around the world, but try to limit it. When you see news related to the pandemic and its rising cases, it creates a negative impact on your mindset. You freaked out because of your fear. So it is important to limit it and believe only trusted news sources. You snatch yourself unnecessarily spending time on social media because you feel isolated. Take a pause and spend your time in some meaningful activities. Today social media evolved into a fake world with a lot of negativity. It is okay to chill for some time, but wasting hours make no sense intact it can damage your mental health. So it is important to limit it because excessive anything can create big damage.

Prioritize your mental health

There are many benefits of prioritizing mental health, most commonly known are improved self-esteem and self-efficacy, Increased energy, reduced depression and anxiety. Address your feelings, don’t ignore them for days. If you don’t address it, then you unnecessarily overthink it. So express it to feel light. Mainly we least prioritize our mental health and, this is the worst thing we can do to ourselves. Mental Health should be top prioritize because mental health is more important than physical health.
