Habits of Steve Jobs
One of the best biographies which you must read is Steve Jobs. He was one of the most influential people. Read out six important lessons from his biography to know how he has become so successful and, which habits made him achieve such revolutionary results, even you can apply them in your life. These lessons are from the book Steve Jobs written by Walter Isaacson:
Feel special
Steve Jobs’s childhood was different from normal children, he had two parents. But instead of many problems, his parents told him that he is very special. They chose him to be their son because he is very special. And because Steve’s parents, who adopted him kept repeating this thing to him, he believed that he is special. And in his biography, there are many incidents where he believed that he is special.
Outside and inside
In his biography, there stated a lesson from his father Steve Job said he never forgot. A real creator is one should not just focus on the outside but also focus on the inside. And therefore, people say that this is the reason why Steve became a perfectionist related to designs and details. Apple products became so beautiful and attractive his thinking was the reason behind it. Many people focus on visible things, whether it’s their product or character, but if you want to be great then, you must focus on the inside and outside both.
Get inspired
Since starting, Steve Jobs was the kind of person who used to get inspired by people and mentors. He gets inspired so much that he used to behave exactly like them. For example: when Steve used to stay in Mountain View, most of the houses there were built by Joseph Eichler. He used to build inexpensive, smart, and beautiful houses with a motto that everyone deserves a better home. People said, because of that inspiration Steve got an idea of beautiful advanced computers so, that even maximum people can use them.
Now, if you are thinking that Apple doesn’t create products that can be used by normal people. Apple was starting its LISA project that computer was designed for high class and business class people and was very expensive. Steve wasn’t happy with it, he wasn’t ready for that. It was the reason he was removed from the LISA project (LISA was his daughter’s name). He wanted to create cheap and better performance LISA computers that can be used by maximum people, and even did that by creating Macintosh.
He was inspired a lot of times and, those inspirations become the key to his success, not only in his professional life but his personal life. His personality was inspired by Robert Friedland. Robert was a very charming person who used to do LSD. At a very young age, Steve considered him as his mentor. Similarly, even you should get inspired by good people and mentors. It will help you to move forward in life while making you a better person.
Distorted reality
People who have spent time with Steve Jobs say that Steve used to live in a distorted reality. It means he was not very considerate about facts and figures and used to create reality as he wants, without accepting any other facts. Many times, he used to do things to a very wrong extent. Example: Not accepting his daughter or that he is going through cancer. But many times, he used to create unbelievable results.
Environment
Steve’s father always encouraged him to create things. And it was not only about him but, he has startup people, innovators, engineers, video game creators, computer creators, microchip creators, etc – electronic geeks were Steve’s. Even a Nasa Research Centre was near to his place. Now, between these creators, there was a special person to Larry Lienge, who inspired Steve since his childhood. From him, Steve learned that even he can create any product if he truly wants to. These things gave a lot of confidence Steve because he stayed in such a rich environment. Therefore Steve’s mentality was creator mentality, not consumer mentality which made him very successful.
Most of the people stay in the environment where they are asked to study. Hence be with creators and innovators as much as possible because this will improve your success chances.
See future
Steve used to think about the future, he used to think about whether the product will work in the future or not. When he comes to know about computers, he saw the future fill with computers. Even Xerox didn’t realize the potential of their product but, Steve knew its importance.
