Top law schools in the world starts with 48 law schools in the US, 13 in Canada, and 17 in North American that makes it to the global top 50 law schools.

The world’s best legal education is provided by Harvard University, which retains the title for the fifth consecutive year. After the global top 10, which includes 6 law schools from the US, eight American law schools feature in the global top 50.

Top Law Schools In The US And Canada:

The University of Chicago hardly misses out on a spot in the top 10 in 11th place on an international platform.

Other recognized US schools include Georgetown University (18th)University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA, 26th), and University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (29th).

Canada’s highest-ranked law school is the University of Toronto, which ranks joint 20th globally.

There are two other Canadian law schools in the global top 50, namely, McGill University in 28th place, and the University of British Columbia in 40th.

Top Law Schools In Europe:

Europe is the most well-represented region for law schools on a global level. It has 138 ranked programs, 15 in the global top 50 and 3 in the global top 10.

The United Kingdom has 35 law schools in the top 50, the highest of any country in Europe. After the top 10, recognized British law schools include King’s College London (KCL) in 15th place, the University of Edinburgh in 22nd, the Queen Mary University of London in 30th, and Durham University in 43rd.

The Netherlands has 2 universities in the top 50 where Leiden University is in the 24th place and the University of Amsterdam in 34th.

France also has two schools in the top 50, namely, University Paris 1 Pantheon – Sorbonne in 25th position and Sciences Po Paris in 50th.

So does Germany with Humboldt-Universität Zu Berlin in 37th position and Ludwig-Maximillian’s-Universität München in 43rd. Belgium’s Katholieke Universities Leuven rounds off the European presence at 33rd position.

Top Law Schools In Asia:

There are 48 law schools in Asia, where only eight schools make it into the global top 50. Asia’s highest-ranked law school is the National University of Singapore in 13th position.

The University of Tokyo, Japan ranks in 20th place in the global top 50 – further eight Japanese law schools were featured in the overall rankings.

Seoul National University, South Korea has six programs in the law rankings, with one program ranked at the 38th position in the top 50.

National Taiwan University, Taiwan also has one program in the top 50 ranked at the 49th place.

Hong Kong has three schools in the law rankings, with two making it into the top 50, namely The University of Hong Kong in 19th place, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 43rd.

Mainland China is the most well-represented in Asia in the law school rankings with a total of 14 programs. Two of these law schools are in the world’s top 50, namely, the Peking University in 23rd place and Tsinghua University in 27th.

Top Law Schools In Australia And New Zealand:

There are 18 law school programs in Australia and 4 in New Zealand which feature in the global subject rankings, with 6 Australian programs making it into the global top 50.

Australia’s highest-ranked law program is found at The University of Melbourne, the only non-UK or US law program in the top 10, ranked at the 10th position.

Also, The University of Sydney (13th place), The University of New South Wales (14th), the Australian National University (17th), Monash University (35th), and The University of Queensland (UQ, 39th) are some notable law schools in Australia.

New Zealand’s highest-ranked program is its only program in the top 50 at The University of Auckland, in the 50th place.

Top Law Schools In Latin America:

Latin America has an essential presence in the law rankings with 23 programs. 4 Latin American programs are in the top 50 globally.

The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile is the highest-ranked law school at 36th place, with 5 other universities in Chile. Out of these two universities, Mexico’s highest-ranked law program is found at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México the 41st place and Brazil’s Universidade de São Paulo (USP) jointly hold 47th place.

Although none of its programs feature in the top 50, Colombia is the most well-represented Latin American country, featuring eight schools. Its highest ranked school Universidad de Los Andes Colombia is ranked at 51-100 position at the table.

Top Law Schools In Africa And The Middle East:

5 African schools feature in the top law schools at a global level, with four of these in South Africa and one in Egypt.

The highest-ranked school is the University of Cape Town, at 101-150 place at the table.

Only two countries in the Middle East are represented in the law school rankings, namely, Israel and Saudi Arabia, with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem the highest-ranked at 101-150 at the table.
