Please note there is no limit to your attempting the CA exam. You are eligible for an articleship only when you clear group 1 of IPCC. No matter how many attempts it takes.
Coming to your next question. In terms of doing an articleship with SS KOTHARI and MEHTA firms, best would be to contact the organization itself. Generally any firm would find you eligible for an articleship if you have cleared group 1 ( attempts do not matter), but best would be to get first hand information from the company itself.
If you are determined to be a CA, please note this is one of the toughest exam and cannot be cleared in one attempt even by the most brilliant student. Keep the motivation going and appear for the exam. Practice by knowing the concepts is a must.
