It is extremely important to have a nice understanding of mathematics if you want to pursue your career as an Electronics and Telecom Engineer. Below are the explanations for that.

1. Most of the times you will be involved in the calculations. These are not just the calculations on a machine but also require human effort to make use of the variables and have the conclusions right. The minute mistakes in the calculations may cost you a lot. Therefore mathematics remains the foundation of electronics and telecom engineering.

2. There will be a number of occasions where you will have to do certain derivations and make use of differential and integral in order to solve the problem. You cannot just avoid this and jump to the conclusion directly. Therefore it is very much required to have a sound understanding of mathematics.

3. While studying communication and telecom engineering you will find that it is more about mathematics rather than anything else. Every now and then you will have to work on various derivations and formulae in order to solve the problem and design the technological solutions. Therefore maths will be required.

4. A lot of times you will be working on various software as an electronics and telecom engineer. Therefore it will be useful for you to have the understanding of the various mathematics involved behind that in order to understand it better.

5. Sometimes you will also have to do programming. And you must be knowing that the basic concepts of the programming languages lie in the understanding of mathematics. Therefore you cannot afford to skip the concepts of mathematics in order to become a good programmer or consequently a good electronics and telecom engineer. You will have to have the maths right.

Therefore it is clear that mathematics is an essential part of the role of Electronics and Telecom Engineering and one has to get acquainted to it in order to perform really well and make a nice contribution. Maths comes with practice and thus you need to practice really well.
