Hello nila,
I am sure you have chosen engineering and IT with a goal in mind.
Pursue your goal, instead of running away. IT industry is a pressure and performance oriented job and hence involves a full time dedication to the job and less focus on personal life. But that does not mean the professional has no life when they are not working.
At this moment, I would suggest take a break. Go for a holiday and pursue certifications related to IT or networking.
Due to work pressure other fields seem attractive but note that every field is demanding. Getting into psychology, would mean beginning at the base level or right from scratch. At the sametime since your base is not psychology, acceptance and getting a counseling job immediately will take sometime and may add up to your frustration. So change of field is a complete no no.
As said earlier, you too have a life of your own. During weekends join a dance class and refresh yourself. Blogging is another good way of keeping the mind fresh. There are many online blogging sites. Eg. Google+. Create an account and start blogging. You could also write in local magazines etc. As far as mingling with people are concerned, you could work as a volunteer with local organizations or NGO. Or catch up with friends. At the sametime, you could arrange for activites inyour society or teach a new activity or games to your building kids.
Work pressure would be there. You cannot run away. But can definitely try different means of relaxation. Change of career is not the solution.
Wish you good luck...
Dear Aspirant,
When you say that you dont like your job and life style, it also means that you have wasted money, efforts, time and trust of your parents and your self behind engineering. How can you think now that engineering is not for you and you wish to have something else in life.
You are 23 now and this age is very critical and high time for career. You are into Testing which is a good field and well earning also. It appears that you are running away from what you have on the assumption that other fields are good and you have interests in those.
Psychology, Dancing, Travel, Writing, interacting with people.... See you have still so many diverse thoughts and loss of focus.
Please take the Ideal Career Test from CareerGuide.com. This is a unique psychometric test which will give answer to your confusions by assessing your innate skills, interests, passion, aptitude, etc.
Best wishes
