The answer is actually simple.
If you are interested in enhancing your technical knowledge and if you belong to a high technical field and wish to have a long term career in the same, then pursuing an MS is very apt.
If you are experienced enough in your engineering domain already and wish to diversify or get into a managerial role, then an MBA part time or executive is apt then.
Now you have to tell me at which level you are at currently and that will decide whether doing an MS or MBA is required.
Going for an MBA if do not have at least five years of technical experience is not recommended. Till then you can do some certification courses which will help you to remain update and add value to your resume and also create a base for a managerial role later.

Since MBA is the trend these days, I can understand your confusion.
But please note everyone does not and are not fit to fit into the managerial domain. Also with few years of experience employees learn the art of managementm
Incase you are a hardcore technical guy and cannot see beyond machines then MS is the best option. We need technical people too.
Also please note that to be a manager later on, and manage a team, if technically you are not sound then a management degree would also be of no help to you.
As such, please note you could opt for a project management course which is highly valuable than an MBA

Get some experience, which will also help you gauge your skills and aptitude and help you making a choice.
