Hello

Thank you for choosing CareerGuide.com!!! and writing to us. I appreciate your interest in mechanical engineering. It is a lucrative profession and there are plenty of job opportunities worldwide with this degree and yes, India has a well established mechanical engineering field too.
If you want to join Mechanical engineering degree after 12th class, there is only one option that you should have studied MATHS as a compulsory subject in this Biology group. Are you studying Maths currently in 12th class? If yes, then you are eligible to apply for Mechanical engineering after 12th. As most colleges have a eligibility criteria that a student should have compulsorily studied Maths at 10th and 12th class if they want to do diploma in Mechanical or Engineering as college graduation. Central Government colleges usually consider national level entrance exam for Engineering like the IIT JEE, AIEEE All India Engineering Entrance Examination. These exams are conducted annually across India in every state. Students attending the exam are scored on a national ranking and accordingly they are placed at colleges as per their rank. For example, if you are interested in studying at any of the IIT institutions, you are mandatory to have appeared for IIT JEE exam and passing the exam, you will given your rank among the students who appeared with you for the same year. With a high rank you can get placed at IIT institutes. And the rest of the colleges in India definitely accept AIEEE result too.

If you are applying for state colleges that comes under the University of that particular state, they accept state level entrance test. For example, most of the Indian states have a CET Common entrance test and students who attend this test are likely to get placed in colleges with in that state only. Maharashtra, Karnataka and many other states use this CET system.

Next entrance exam for private colleges: Private colleges have their own entrance test and they also consider if you submit GATE/ AIEEE exam results. But taking their own entrance test is compulsory for them. For example, BITS Pilani has its own entrance test known as BITSAT, Vellore Institute of technology (VIT) Vellore Tamil nadu has its own entrance test known as VITEEE and SRM University Chennai Tamil nadu has its own entrance test known as SRMEEE.

Finally, do the following steps.

1. Are you studying Maths at 12th? Maths is compulsory else you will not be eligible for Engineering at most colleges. (Very few private colleges accept students without maths for Engineering but they may demand donation).
2. You should first choose where you want to study Mechanical Engineering.
3. If it is at IIT, you need to take IIT JEE exam.
4. If you want to study anywhere in India, AIEEE is necessary.
5. If you want to study only within your state, you should appear for your state entrance test. (AIEEE is also considerable within your state).
6. If your choice is private institutions, you should appear for their own entrance test.

If you score well in your 12th, you dont have to worry about donation. If you score less then you cant get placed in government colleges and you will eventually approach private institutions. Only at this point they might demand you some donation. So study well and get high scores in 12th and as well get high rank in entrance test, you can get admission without donation. All the best.
