Most of the public sector banks recruit through entrance examinations for the general stream. There is no specialized recruitment for wealth management. If you wish to get into general banking, and you are within the age limits, you are free to appear for the Probationary Officer Entrance Examinations.
Certain banks onboard people through a Diploma in Banking course in association with Sikkim Manipal University, with assured placement at entry level. The cost is in the range of Rs. 3- 4 lacs for a one year course. If you stay for 5 years in the same bank, some banks might reimburse this cost at a later stage.
Private sector banks appear to be the best bet for entry into the banking sector.
New payment banks like PayTM have huge plans for entering the wealth management sector.
Digital companies (these are not banks) will offer wealth management products on a large scale.
