Dear Friend
Making biologist is just like other subject specialist: remember on logic -----if you have skill to observe any simple thing very in complicated manner and a complicated thing looks like very simple for you--a skill makes you different from laymen and that is how a biologist looks interesting. Everybody has the involvement of living creature which is the nature and not awared of the facts about its existence rather numerous microscopic prokaryotes are around you since the arrival of creature but it was Leeuwenhoek who hypothesized and got entire world realized. Still many scientists are involved in the same world and having technological support from other fields --a difference from then scientist but challenges are many --like confusion arises from the array of technology.

Anyways come to the point regarding prerequisites of making biologist or scientist:

1. Interest about the surrounding those are very interesting as you know one can not be master of everything otherwise will be known as jack of all the trades that is why interest brings you closer to your field where you will enjoy the journey.

2. Build strategy to adapt an academic path which get you to your goal, like medical, biological engineering, pharmaceutical/drug discovery, agriculture etc. Many examples (practitioners as well products) are available around you accordingly you will be fascinated to any one of them, impossible to find everything is workable to one.

3. After analysis with the consultation of mentor/ teacher/ family you will come to the conclusion, of course your scoring approach at school level (10-12th) things will be apparent to convince your parents that I am for biology due to my understanding and capacity though it will be prematured if your interest, continuum, passion and dedication are missing afterwards.

4. Avoid many men many suggestions which could be fatal for your career so it will be you who can submit the declaration to your parents to support you. Think again and again and ask your self which will be the elemental fulfillment for the profession of biology.
5. Now again you look the entire branches of biology, where you are comfortable either in basic sciences-botany, zoology-life sciences (B.SC/MSC--PhD) or bio-engineering (B.tech/Mtech---Ph.D).

5. Must know that you have read entire subjects thoroughly at school level if not then again you rush and fetch NCERT books will be helpful.

Good luck
Manoj

Dear friend, a biologist has to be a keen observer, a crtical analyser and day dreamer. Day dreamer means, the biologist should imagine crazy ideas. Being a biologist you have to learn many things and implement in day today life. There is a saying that every day is a learning for us. Similarly a biologist is a social animal, who interacts daily with students, colleagues, seniors and clients. This interaction more or less is face to face.

A biologist could be a botanist, zoologist, biotechnologist, microbiologist, biochemist, nanobiotechnologist, pharmacologist, biomedical scientist, environmental scientist, agricultural scientist, forensic scientist, food scientist, marine biologist, Fishery scientist and there are many more other disciplines.

A biologist has to be familiar with basics in biology, for example, whatever you have read in schools, keep in mind. The experiments mentioned in school books are basic and can be implemented even in higher studies. The biology subjects in graduation has some details, with theory as well as practical aspects. Whatever is tought to you try to remember. For example, the classification in botany, this will always helpful to you whenever you will visit a field, or you go out for an excursion. As a biologist you may be a teacher, professor, lecturer or scientist, you have to keep yourself updated with your subject. The basics you have learned in schools and graduation will definitely pay you.

In masters degree and doctoral degree programs, you will be specialized in subject. You will learn how to conceptualize and carry out research. How to conduct an experiment, how to take observations, how to analyze the data, how to write a report, and how to publish your research findings. These things will definitely help you in long run to shape your career and guide your students and research schlolars.

As a biologist you have write research projects and win them, the training during writing your masters and doctoral degree thesis will definitely help you at this stage. You have learn from your colleagues, seniors how to organize international and nationaal conferences, workshops, symposium and training programs. These are the scientific activities, which will give you a platform to interact with people from every corner of nation or world. Here you will get an opportunity to may make contact with people of your research or subject interest for future research collaboration.
In nutshell, every day and every event is a lesson for biologist, so be a good student to learn always.
Good Luck....
