The zoologist is a person who study the animals, their behavior, distribution, classification and physiology in their natural habitat and in captivity.
Technically speaking a person holding a post graduate degree in zoology is known as zoologist. The zoologist salary depends upon many factors such as academic qualifications, number of years of relevant experience and place of work.
The academic qualifications matter a lot while getting a job. For the post of a school teacher, who teaches zoology, salary will be for a trained graduate teacher will be in the pay scale of Rs. 7450-11500 rs. with a academic pay band of Rs. 4800. The salary for a post graduate teacher will be Rs. 7500-12000 with an academic grade pay of Rs. 4800 per month.



The Post graduate in zoology are also recruited as Research Associate, Senior Research Fellow, Hunior Research Fellow and Technical Officer. The salary of RA, SRF and JRF is fixed, generally Rs. 18000 per month plus house rent allowance (it depends upon the city) for first two years. In third year the salary is around Rs. 21000 per month plus HRA. The technical officer is a permanent job and total salary for a fresher is around Rs. 30,000 per month

The zoologist who have a doctoral degree in zoology or related subjects like, animal behavior, animal conservation could make entry into colleges, universities, research institutions and governmental laboratories. Here the entry level rank will be lecturer, assistant scientist or assistant professor. The starting salary for these posts is in pay scale of Rs. 15600-37100 plus academic grade pay of Rs. 5400 per month. The salary and designation of the person increases with experience.
The zoologist are are also employed in zoo, forest department and as curator. The salary for a fresher is around Rs. 25,000 per month, it depends upon the nature of duty.
The zoologist who is working on molecular aspects of research and working in governmental laboratories will get a better emolument. The salary could be around Rs. 70,000 to 85,000 per month.
The salary for a zoologist in western universities are much better compared to Indian scenario. There the salary for a fresher around USD 63,5000 to 75,000 per annum.
