The starting salary of a Chef may vary depending on their educational background, achievements and area of expertise. It will also depend on the kind of hotel or institute that will hire you. Based on these categories, we can explain the starting salaries of a Chef:

1.As a trainee chef, one can earn 10-15 thousands rupees per month if they are working in lower to mid sized hotel or restaurant. The starting salary of a well trained Chef often varies from 15-20 thousands per month in a small to mid sized hotel or restaurant

2. If the hotel is premier in that case you can expect around 15-20 thousands rupees per month in the training period. After the training you can expect 20-25 thousandrupees per month.

3. If you are working abroad, you can get even multiple times of that amount as a trainee Chef. You often earn Rs 50 thousands to Rs. 1 lakh, even more in certain cases as a beginner. For example in Australia, the starting salary of a Chef can go up to 3000 Australian dollars per month.

4. If you are working for a government institute, then starting salary will be from Rs 12000 - Rs 18000 per month. But as a government employee you get a number of other perks and benefits.

5. If you choose to work in the private institute your starting salary will be somewhere in the range of Rs 15000 - Rs 25000 based on the kind of organization you are working with.

6. In case you have decided to work as a personal Chef, your salary will be somewhere around Rs10,000- Rs 15000 per month. In this case you will have more flexibility of work.

Therefore the salaries of the Chefs at the beginner level are not that high, but they do earn a lot of money as they gain more experience.
