The BET Exam, or the DBT JRF BET Exam, is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, for the recruitment of Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) in the field of biotechnology. Exam Pattern
The BET Exam consists of two phases:
- Preliminary Exam: The preliminary exam is a computer-based test (CBT) consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries 1 mark, and the total score is 100. The duration of the exam is 2 hours.
- Main Exam: The main exam is a written exam consisting of two papers:
- Paper I: General Aptitude (60 questions, 2 hours)
- Paper II: Biotechnology (80 questions, 3 hours)
The questions in the BET Exam are of multiple-choice, objective-type, and descriptive type. The difficulty level of the exam is moderate.

Admission is granted to candidates based on CAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ XAT and CMAT scores. Candidates who appear in any of the tests as mentioned above are exempt from BET 2023, and also applier candidates will be given Admission based on personal interview.
Marks: Minimum 60% of marks for General, EWS & OBC category and 55% of marks for SC/ ST/ Differently Abled candidates in aggregate (or equivalent grade). Age Limit: Upto 28 years of age as on the last date of application for General& EWS category
The exam fee is ₹1,200 for OBC, EWS and unreserved candidates if they appear for either GAT-B or BET. In the same case, the fee is ₹600 for SC, ST and PWD candidates. For appearing in both papers, UR, OBC and EWS candidates will have to pay ₹2,400 and SC, ST, PWD candidates need to pay ₹1,200
