Architecture is a study of building construction. Architects work on the aesthetic sight of buildings too. They design, plan and implement physical structures in a distinctive way.

You can seek admission through Joint Entrance Test and the National Aptitude Test in Architecture. Along with maths, physics and chemistry, you should have a good command of drawing and sketching as well. This course is for 5 years including thesis and internship.

1. Architect

You will be granted permission to work and authorize architectural projects after completing graduation and get a registration number and a license number from the council of architecture, India.

As an architect, you will be able to work with construction firms, consultancy services, etc. The professional needs for architects differ from place to place. You will plan, design and supervise the construction of buildings.

2. Disaster Management Specialist

Architects are equally responsible for the construction of disaster-resistant buildings and alleviation routes. Architects specialized in disaster management plans, supervises, constructs and execute alternate roads, earthquake-resistant houses, flood-resistant buildings etc.

As this job is in great demand, you can work with the National Disaster Management Authority or the NGOs associated with disaster management.

3. Draftsman

Draftsman initiates technical drawing acknowledging the requirements and conditions. Their work is connected with architectural firms. They take measurements on the site, plans out constructional arrangements, subsequently creating a draft.

4. Freelance Architect

In this role, you will be responsible to create customised furniture and mass sale products. A furniture designer is an extremely professional field in architecture. As cities are getting crowded day by day, the demand for space-saving furniture is growing.

You can definitely work in big firms and independently as well. If you are capable enough in this field it is better if you start your work with some firm.

6. Interior designer

Architects have a good knowledge of designing buildings and houses therefore, they can work as interior designers. And having a license, they can authorize the designs.

Architects learn that buildings should be made to unveil the life out of cold objects. And if you know how to create beauty in the right way, and let out the essence of the building, you can master this field.

7. Lecturer

Architects are also required in interior design schools. After completing a bachelor’s degree, you should choose M.Arch. and then NET. You can work as a lecturer in colleges and polytechnics too.

To teach students you need to have good knowledge of the subject and keeping yourself updated with the latest software tools is necessary, this will help you to provide more and more knowledge to your students and eventually, it will help them in the long run.

8. Project Manager

In this designation, you will be in charge of planning, designing and execution of buildings including, manpower, their management and arrangement of raw materials.

You will work both as an architect and manager too. You will be required to design the plans and oversee the ongoing project.

9. Urban Designer and Urban Planner

There is a slight difference between these two profiles. Urban planners allot places on the planned areas, whereas, urban designers are accountable for designing those buildings. Being an urban planner you will design the layout of a city, as well as the proper use of the land, you will be expected to create finer places for the citizens, their entertainment areas, parks, hospitals, housing society etc.
