The Tagore International School located in New Delhi has been awarded the Top Technology/ Online Learning Initiatives (School) award by Career Guide. The award was accepted by Ms. Vedica Saxena on behalf of the school. Ms. Saxena in her acceptance speech on behalf of the school expressed her pleasure and gratitude that such an acknowledgement sends a motivational message to educators like herself, to work harder for the children.
Named after Rabindranath Tagore, it envisages an education “deeply rooted in one’s immediate surroundings but connected to the cultures of the wider world, predicated upon pleasurable learning and individualized to the personality of the child”. The school is run by the Tagore Education Society, a society founded by Dr. Mrs. Hari Sen and Mr. Jitender Sen in 1964.
To quote the DG Police, she said, “the students need to grow as thinkers” which is exactly what the school is working towards. She also very truly said that the pandemic had forced us to adopt online learning techniques. So, keeping in mind the Cyber Policies, the school management asked the students as well as their parents and teachers from the Sixth Grade and above to sign a Cyber Security Policy to keep them safe online.
Also, during the pandemic, the students of Tagore International took up a small initiative to teach EWS students online. They teamed up with a few government schools like Samarpan foundation wherein the students take weekly online sessions on Spoken English along with Mental Health issues; which was not only for the EWS but also for the LGBTQ+ community as well acid attack survivors.
The school’s mission is to impart an education that provides relevant, meaningful, and diverse learning opportunities which support students in their aspirations, encourage them to fortify their innate strengths and spur them to productively engage with the community. The school is a secular place and does not encourage either the propagation of a particular religion or disregard for any religion. They also celebrate festivals of all religions in the school which makes the students culturally and socially aware. This is a practice to avoid any bias in the child’s mind, as they want the children to grow up as secular citizens.
Tagore International School strives to foster a school environment that is safe, and which acknowledges individual differences and acceptance of all; educates young minds to recognize their potential and set a high benchmark for themselves. It provides a platform where 21st-century skills of critical thinking, leadership and effective communication are the hallmarks of the learning process.
