The branches of studies associated with engineering and technology are…
A privately deemed university, Vellore Institute of Technology(VIT) is located in Vellore. It was established in 1984. It has 54 undergraduate, 34 postgraduate, 9 integrated, 2 types of research, and some technical industrial program. The college has good infrastructure and facilities like library, cafeteria, gym, labs, medical facilities, hostel, auditorium, convenience store, sports complex, etc.
VIT conducts an exam that is VITEEE (Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination) for admissions in engineering courses. VIT also has invited applications for four-year B.Sc (Bachelor of Science) honors in the Agriculture program. Students need a minimum of 70% from CBSC or ISC board in the 12th or qualification in two-year University Examination from any recognized board. A student should have physics, chemistry, agriculture, mathematics, or biology with botany or zoology. Students who are passed or waiting for exam results can also apply for it. Candidates will be selected based on a 10+2 merit list.
B.Tech student admissions are based on VITEEE exam scores. This online exam pattern has 5 questions from English, 10 aptitude questions, 40 questions from mathematics or biology, and 35 questions from physics and chemistry. When your VITEEE result will come, you will get information regarding your counseling date, time, and campus, where you have to go for counseling, and demand draft information. Date and time may vary according to your rank. You need to fill in the information, like where you want to do your counseling
Courses are divided into groups and, VIT has different category-wise fees structure according to the group. Group A has programs – bioengineering, biotechnology, civil engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, B.Des, and so on. Students have to pay a fee of INR 1, 76,000 for the first year. Group B has programs – CSE, aerospace engineering, engineering specialization courses, IT, automotive engineering, and so on. Students have to pay a fee of INR 1, 98,000 for the first year. And refundable caution deposit of INR 3000, which is a one-time payment needs to be paid by students of both groups. The hostel also has different category of rooms which has different fees.
There are five categories for students to take admission in and, they need to pay fees according to their category. If you have a good rank, then you will get admission in category one. If seats become full in category one before students rank, then they will be given admissions in category two and, then three and so on. If a student is in Group A and category two, they need to pay a total fee of 2 lakhs for the first year. One lakhs will increase in student fees with an increase in category.
B.Tech course pattern is divided into four parts for 160 credits. The four parts are: program core which has 59 credits, program elective has 36 credits (students are given options regarding their branch), university core has 53 credits, and university elective has 12 credits. Third-year and final-year students have projects in their syllabus. EVS and English included are non-credential subjects. English has different sections, students need to give a test, and based on its results, they get foundation one, two, or technical section.
There is a little difference between courses and their specialization. If you do computer science engineering, it has computer core topics. And in Computer Science and Engineering specialization courses, the study is focused on that chosen specialized subject with core computer topics. For example, in the Mechanical branch, students can get Mechatronics and Automation. Computer science students can get Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Cyber Security and Forensics, BlockChain Technology which is new, Robotics, IoT, etc. In the same way, another branch has specialization courses too.
VIT gives you an opportunity by which you can directly go to a foreign university and study there. There are two types of programs the first one in which you can study for two years and the second program for final year students in which is for one semester. The fee is going to be higher than your current college fees. Options for foreign universities are available on the college’s website. From the partner universities tab, you can see all the partner universities where you can study. VIT college has SAP (Semester Abroad Programme), in which you can complete your last semester in any foreign university.
