Dear career aspirant

Welcome to CareerGuide.com.
We guide you to a proper and perfect career.

You have taken a good decision to pursue either electronics or computer science after completing plus two. I shall wish to see it a good step towards a bright career and future. In what ever way you see, both shall never loose its brilliance in the future.

Your question itself have the answer you are seeking. More and more people are choosing computer science. Not because of electronics are not lucrative, but because electronics are a bit tough to learn and is supposed to be more creative than computer science.

Secondly Institutes offering electronics degree are far less compared to computer science degree offering colleges. Seats are also far less.

From all the information above, it is clear that taking electronic as your stream should reduce your competition in the future. Every electronic company or computer company gives almost equal priorities to both of these graduates. But in the current situation electronics people get more salary because they are less when compared to computer science people.

In my opinion, you should go for electronics stream. There are two advantages. In future, with the current scenario, you shall face less compitition and you shall gain salary advantage over your computer science colleague.

Still I shall advice you to take a stream selector psychometric test. Helps you to find your aptitude and then choose the right one.

God bless you.

Hi,

Greeting's for the day!!!

Computer Engineers are responsible for designing, developing, implementing and testing computer-based hardware and software, including the components that are found inside computer equipment, as well as the actual devices that contain the computers and the software that runs on those machines. they may also design network tht connects computer systems, and work on integrating software programs with computer hardware..

Education Requirements:
To become Computer Engineer, you will typically require a bachelor of science degree in computer engineering, computer science or electrical engineering.

Responsibillities or Required Technical Skills:
Since the computer engineering field is quite broad, the required technical skills listed n the job posting you may come across will vary, depending on whether the job is more hardware or software focused, and which industry the employer belongs to. Typically, you will need to have the followings:

1. An understanding of the particular computer hardware architecture you will be working with.
2. Experience designing, coding and testing software.
3. Familiarity with Software Test Procedures or scripts
4. Experience building your own PC System
5. Understanding of different Operating Systems, including Windows and Linux, and how certain types of software will work with them.
6. Experience with device drivers
7. Understanding of Networking and Security
8. Understanding of the (sometimes specialized) software that is typically used in particular industry.
9. Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Java and other Object-Oriented programming languages.

Computer engineers usually use computer-assisted software engineering, or CASE, tools to automate the process. They also test, debug, and update programs.

Other Cruacial Skills:
Since computer engineers work closely with programmers, designers, product developers, and testers, they really need to have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team.

Fields employing Computer Engineers:
Computer engineers are likely to find work in a variety of fields, including (but not limited to):
1. Telecommunications
2. Manufacturing
3. Transportation
4. Product Development

Here are some interesting "Niche" areas of Computer Engineering:
1. Working with Radar and Communications Technology
2. Supporting high performance and embedded computing systems for nuclear medicines
3. Military Software Support
4. Designing new Motors and sensors for robotics equipments.

Top Colleges in India for Computer Engineering:
1. IIT (Delhi, Kanpur, Mumbai, Kharagpur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Guwahati)
2. BITS Pilani
3. Delhi Technological University (DTU)
4. College of Engineering (COE), Pune
5. Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shibpur
6. NIT Warangal
7. VJTI, Mumbai
8. MANIT, Bhopal
9. BIT, Mesra
10. ITM Group of Institutions, Gwalior

As each of the industry is going for Automation now a days, so the "Computer Engineering" will have the better scope as compared to that of "Electronics" field. Even unlike earlier you can apply for jobs in various areas / Sectors on the basis of your Computer Engineering.
