I want to take up architecture as a career. But I am not wanting to take up science in 11th and 12th. Can I do architecture by taking up commerce stream.?
Hello dear student..First of all thank you for coming to meracareerguide and asking your query to us, your query is about your career choice of architecture with a commerce background. It is our pleasure to guide you in all manner we can. This is not an issue at all, it is possible to do architecture with commerce back ground now a days it is not compulsory to take science for architecture course.Minimum eligibility criteria to go for the course is you should complete your 12th standard with as a subject which is compulsory and you should have fifty to sixty percent marks in twelve standard.
You need to pass fairly your ten plus two exams too which is also needed other wise you can not opt for the course.Only thing is you should have maths as a subject which is important as it is required in your architecture course latter to have a good base in maths. photo-career-in-architecture-with-related-terms-as-art-71527102.jpg" To go for the course again you need t clear entrance exams like AIEEE, NATA which are national level exams to get seats in colleges having architecture courses. For details about the entrances mentioned above go to the sites www.aieee.nic.in and www.nata.in where you see and find all the details and eligibility criteriaBut taking science in plus two will help you a lot and it is always better to have science back ground especially maths and physics as this subjects will help you later in during your course time as you will have subjects like structure ,mechanics etc. which at times can be tough to deal with without a science back ground but again I would say nothing is impossible if you have confidence you can do, not a big deal. Hope you got the answer for your query above and now it is very clear that it is not compulsory to have a science back ground to go for the course of architecture and now you can take commerce in your twelve standards time or say plus two and plan accordingly for future. All the best for your future and career growth, have a bright future ahead. Thank you
Dear aspirant Thank you for approaching counsellors at CareerGuide.com. You can certainly do an architecture degree with a commerce subject background at 12th class. Although some government colleges demand a science background like, compulsorily studying physics, chemistry and maths, most private colleges accept even commerce background students. But most often colleges except students to have compulsorily studied maths at 10th and 12th class. Colleges actually dont mind in what group you are from but they give importance to at least maths subject. To study architecture colleges usually accept students wwith a state or national level engineering entrance test. If you appear for a state level entrance test then you will compulsorily write physics, chemistry and maths as part of the state entrance exam like the CET exams. If you appear for [AIEEE exam like the all India engineering entrance exam then maths and physics may be compulsory subjects. Therefore if you choose to study at government approved colleges or any other state approved colleges that requires either state entrance test mark card or a AIEEE mark card. In this case you might find it tough to pass the entrance test as they will contain physics, chemistry and maths most often. However if you choose to study at private colleges then they may give you some exemption.
Also note that private colleges are the deemed universities that are happy to offer some flexibility and they are happy if you study maths at least until 10th class. also some private colleges will conduct an entrance test and it is important to double check with them about the content of entrance question paper. The good news for you is most of the private colleges will often not conduct entrance test for students appearing for architecture courses. For example, Bharath university Chennai, Jaya college of engineering Chennai, RV School of architecture Bangalore, Amrita school of engineering and technology Coimbatore and Bangalore, Sathyabama university Chennai, Mohamed Sathak engineering college Chennai are some good examples who dont require anything apart from a decent first class pass in 12th class from any group. If you also want to focus on government approved colleges then it is good to study NCERT syllabus in maths of class 10th and 12th to get some good scores in entrance test. Work out the basic maths and this will help you understand the concept and do well in entrance test. All the best.
