Dear Aspirant
Thank you for contacting CareerGuide.com. First of all you come out from such mindest regarding the job outlook and its futuristic approach, as per the academic thumb rules no subject in the world which has been designed for offering you a mere job which allow you to earn money by getting degree or something else. Let me tell you frankly this the mediocre opinion which is being propagated under insecurity of job and poor understanding of academics. My humble advise to you that avoid such type of approach and never discuss the any matter related to saturation or job scarcity.
Any subject in science, humanity, nature exists for the betterment of society and the theory is given accordingly, rather intelligent academicians explore the existing philosophy by doing basic to applied degree in a certain course where your geology is also one of them. Based on the given facts try to follow the instructions below:
----------------
Understand the implementation part of your subject and see the industrial, and academic niche of this accordingly see your fundamental strength where you claim the best results. This is the primafacy of any screening criteria in terms of self acquaintance. If you are not sure about the suitability and comfortability about you and subject then how come you expect the subject will bring you to any professional goal. Though it is a common myth that we look for such course or subject which cab bring us to the success it is unrealistic approach. Better you try to understand that a subject has been invented or discovered and accordingly designed it. Kindly change this philosophy and work out on your inner dynamics which plays important role before joing any stream. In general we commit this fundamnetal mistake where entire generation goes on the wrong direction by saying I am in mechenical, my cousin in electronics etc and share the myth that i got success due to the subject.
My final conclusion says you that geology has tremendous scope in the world, to make it sure just explore the research papers and try to understand the day to day development. in future you can complement your study with btech/mtech in mineral explosion theory which will give you million dollar approach.

Good luck.Geologist
