Well Pradeep, while getting into engineering course one must always collect information about the various branches that are studied and offers a specialisations in engineering. One must also should know about the subjects that can be studied in the respective specialisation course. while taking an admission in a particular engineering one should consider his/her area of interest in which subject they have and accordingly one should go for the engineering course.

So answering your question here is the difference between Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

1.Civil Engineering-
It includes Planning,Designing and executing structural work.It deals with a wide range of engineering tasks which include designing,supervision and construction activities of public works like roads,bridges,tunnels,buildings,airports etc. A civil engineer is responsible for planning and designing a project,constructing the project to the required scale,and maintenance of the project. Civil Engineering is one of the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering.It is broken into several sub-disciplines including environmental engineering,geotechnical engineering,structural engineering,transportation engineering,water resources engineering,coastal engineering,material engineering,surveying and construction engineering.

Job Profile-
They deal with the design ,construction and maintenance of infrastructure such as building,bridges,roads,dams,tunnels,river and shipping lanes,industrial and power plants.

It is one of the prominent engineering branch which include the application of laws of physics for designing,analysing and manufacturing of mechanical systems.It is the branch of engineering that uses mechanical and heat power for the operation of tools and machines,production and designing tasks. They design and assemble engines and power plants,structures and vehicles of all sizes.
