Dear Friend, you have not mentioned that what is the meaning of freshere biologist in your term. A fresher biologist could be a person holding a masters degree or doctoral degree or a simple graduate. To become a biologist you have to study subject "Biology" strating from your secondary classes. I graduate courses you have take any biology subject such as zoology, botany, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology etc.

The first thing which you need to learn is command over your subject. You should understand the basic principles of your subject. You should be also to analyse and give your opinions related to topics of your subject. Since you are a biologist, and a biologist is supposed to learn different techniques and to handle various sophisticated instruments.

You should have good hands on training on all the instruments you have used in your school, your graduation, post graduation and doctoral degree programs. The reason beiing is, if you work in an industry, people there will expect from you to handle the instruments independently. Similarly in an academic field, if you join a lecturer, teacher or scientist, you have teach the students. Again if you have good knowledge of subject and instruments then only you will be able to teach.

During your degree programs, try to learn techniques related to your subject. There are many training programs offered by universities, research organization and even by private companies to impart trainings in tehnology. This type of trinings could be related to some latest instruments used in molecular biology techniques. These trainings are on payment basis, and definitely these gives very good exposure to the trainee. These types of trainings will give you an opportyunity to work in private as well as in government sector.

If you wish to join academic field then during your masters and doctoral program, try to participate in the national and international conferences, symposia, workshops. Here you will get an exposure, what latest is going on and what is direction of biology stream, what people are working. This you will come to know on a single plagteform. In acdemic field, another very importnet thing is have a certificate of NET (National Eligibility Test), either of UGC-CSIR or ICAR. Some state also conduct their own NET exam.

Try to learn things whatever comes to your door steps.

Good Luck....
