The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) conducts the Odisha Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam for the recruitment of candidates to various Group B and Group C State Cadre Posts under the Odisha Government. The exam is conducted in two phases: Preliminary Examination and Main Examination.

The Mains Examination will be a pen-and-paper test. The term of Paper 1 is 2.5 hours, and the length of Paper 2 is 3 hours.

The OSSC CGL exam could be a competitive exam, and the cut-off marks for the Preparatory Examination and the Mains Examination are ordinarily very tall. Hence, it is imperative for the candidates to plan well for the exam.

Eligibility Criteria

The qualification criteria for the OSSC CGL Exam are as takes after:

The candidate must be a citizen of India.
The candidate must have completed the age of 21 a long time and not more than 35 a long time on the primary day of the examination.
The candidate must have passed the Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college.
The candidate must have essential computer information.

Exam Pattern

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination will be a computer-based test (CBT) consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions. Each question will carry 1 mark, and there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. The total time allotted for the Preliminary Examination is 150 minutes.

The subjects covered in the Preliminary Examination are:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • English Language and Comprehension
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • General Awareness

Mains Examination

The Mains Examination will consist of two papers:

  • Paper 1: General Studies
  • Paper 2: Optional Subject (to be chosen by the candidate)

Paper 1 will be of 100 marks and will be a compulsory paper for all candidates. It will cover the following topics:

  • Indian Polity and Economy
  • Current Affairs
  • History and Culture of India
  • Geography of India
  • Science and Technology

Paper 2 will be of 100 marks and will be an optional paper. The candidate can choose from the following subjects:

  • Economics
  • Statistics
  • Public Administration
  • Sociology
  • Anthropology
  • Psychology
  • Commerce
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Science

Application Process

The application process for the OSSC CGL Exam 2023 is online only. The steps involved are as follows:

  1. Visit the official website of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) at www.ossc.gov.in.
  2. Click on the “Apply Online” tab.
  3. Create a new user account or login if you already have one.
  4. Fill in the application form carefully, providing all the required details.
  5. Upload your scanned photograph, signature, and thumb impression.
  6. Pay the application fee using a credit/debit card, internet banking, or UPI.
  7. Submit the application form.
