The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) conducts various examinations to recruit Group A, B, C, and D employees to various departments of the Tamil Nadu government and Government of India.

The TNPSC examinations are generally held twice a year, once in March/April and once in September/October. However, there are some examinations that are held only once a year.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for TNPSC Group 4 2022 are as follows:

Educational Qualification:

  • Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Junior Assistant (Security), Junior Assistant (Non-Security), Bill Collector, and Draftsmen:
    • Must have passed the SSLC exam with the minimum marks that allow admission to higher secondary courses.
  • Typist:
    • Must have passed the SSLC exam with the minimum marks that allow admission to higher secondary courses.
    • Should also have Government Technical Examination in typewriting.
  • Steno-Typist (Grade – III):
    • Must have passed the SSLC exam with the minimum marks that allow admission to higher secondary courses.
    • Should have Government Technical Examination in both typewriting and shorthand.
  • Field Surveyor:
    • Other things being equal, preference would be given to candidates who are trained in surveying in industrial training institutes.

Computer Qualification (Typist and Steno typist):

  • Candidates should have passed the certificate course in computer on office automation awarded by the technical education department for the post of Typist and Steno typist.

Language Requirement:

  • Applicants should have a working knowledge of the Tamil Language.

Age Limit (as of 01/07/2022):

  • For Junior Assistant, Bill Collector, Typist, and Steno-Typist (Grade -III):
    • SCs, SC(A)s, STs, and Destitute Widows of all Castes: 18 to 37 years
    • MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s and BCMs: 18 to 34 years
    • Others: 18 to 32 years
  • For Village Administrative Officer (VAO):
    • SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s, BCMs, and Destitute Widows of all Castes: 21 to 42 years
    • Others: 21 to 32 years
