Hi,
Academic Record is of almost importance in any of the fields if you are looking for job. It is the first thing that one will see and judge you from. Most of the organizations ask you to mail your resume after which they shortlist the candidate and only those are called for the interview who are selected or shortlisted. Many a time you do not even know the criteria of selection of that organization.Hence it is important to have a good and a sound academic record.

Same is the case in Psychology as well. You would require to have a good and a sound academic background in it as well. Even if you do not score high marks but at least strive to sore a First Division in the same. It will help you a lot.

Also try and maintain your performance throughout your academic career as well. this shows and talks of your stability and consistency.
Also try and get into some good colleges which will add to your credit as well.
In Psychology doing some additional courses always helps and adds up to your skill set.

But apart from all this some other skills are required as well to get a good job. They are as follows:
  • You should have good communication Skills to communicate your thoughts to others
  • Good subject knowledge
  • Patience
  • Good Listening Skills
  • Spontaneity is also required from a Psychologist so that you can give answers without delay
  • Problem Solving Skills etc.....

  • All these will be tested at the time of interview and hence you should be prepared for it well in advance.
  • Many of these skills are not given to you by simply studying but are taught to you as a part of the subject. You cannot simply learn them but try and make them as a part of your daily life and imbibe them in your daily living and make it a part of your personality. Only then you can think of being Successful in your career.
Though many times people do not have a good academic record but these things will always pay you and help you in the work you do or when you practice.

Best Wishes!

Dear Aspirant,

As mentioned by Career Expert, Ms. Adhunika, Academic record of masters/Mphil course play considerable role in getting hired as a psychologist. Minimum academic score (60%) is considered good.

In addition to academic record, clarity on psychology concepts, knowledge about recent trends and researches in the field, psychological skills and techniques, psychometric assessments are essential.

Dear Aspirant,

When you are a fresher in any domain and sector, what is with you to show to employers or customers is your technical competence and that is best indicated by academic performance.

A first class in Psychology courses has a better value in the market as far as employability is concerned.

Best wishes
