Science is basically a good stream which has a plethora of job opportunities. One would find a number of career paths after opting for a Science stream. The aforesaid mentioned fundamental science stream is also a good and leads to the number of career options after graduation. A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) is a plain degree in science stream for which any 12th science student can opt for. A B.Sc. offers you go in various streams and you end up selecting one subject as your specialization for the final year of Graduation. The Students do their B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Electronics, Microbiology, Statistics, etc. This very subject in the final year of B.Sc. lets you do your Master of Science (M.Sc.) in that particular subject.

What to do after B.Sc. – MBA or M.Sc.

B.Sc. itself is a good bachelor degree, be it in Mathematics or any other stream like Physics or Chemistry and other such various streams. After doing B.Sc. you prepare yourself for a number of career options like above mentioned, Management Courses (MBA) and the obvious options like Master of Science in a chosen subject.

Management Studies – It is easy to pursue than never before

Preferring the MBA has been a high-status decision which used to fetch a type of satisfaction to the students as they would feel that MBA is somewhat a higher and reputed degree which will open the door for lucrative jobs in the corporate world. Though the charm of MBA has not decreased, the management institutions are rampant especially in Cities. The point is that pursuing MBA has become easy than it was a decade ago.

The management studies have its own benefits. We can enlist some of the benefits as following –

  • High Demand: The world order today has been based on the market concept and it needs the management professional on large scale to run the day-to-day businesses. That is, there is a high demand for the management professionals.
  • Lucrative Jobs: MBA Candidates directly work for the management of businesses shouldering various responsibilities at the managerial level. The managerial jobs offer a kind of higher salaries if compared with the other jobs.
  • Job Availability Is Good: There is no dearth of Jobs par say. Even though there are numerous institutions including the top notch IIMs producing lakhs of management professionals every year there are a good number of organizations and opportunities to assimilate the management professionals.

Master of Science – A field of Fundamental Science which you would love to be part of

Fundamental Science is a field where one would be busy in research activities and teaching. After graduation in a science stream, there would be an obvious option if not all, to go for a Master in Science. A Master of Science (M.Sc.) prepares you for a number of positions in Research Laboratories as a researcher, in Universities as a Professor, etc. We have sufficient colleges and universities for pursuing the Master of Science in any particular Subject say Mathematics.

The benefits of pursuing a Master of Science (M.Sc.) as following –

  • Being a Professor is a good profession: Qualifying the NET (National Eligibility Test) after a Master of Science will make you qualified for a professorship and research fellowship. You will be teaching in Colleges and universities. Teaching is itself a noble profession.
  • Research Activities Pay A Lot: the organization like DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization), ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization), etc. requires researchers for various projects like satellite building, defense equipment development, agricultural research, etc. The jobs in this type of organizations pay a lot as the remunerations will be higher normally.
  • High Demand: Academic institutions including universities require the science candidates having completed a master degree on a large Government and private sector have been experiencing a growth in academic institutors so more and more tutors are needed in near future. As the India is marching ahead toward developmental goals, we need more teaching professionals to create a whole new generation of youth for getting ahead.

Employment Outlook After M.Sc. In Mathematics

  • Mathematician: A mathematician is a professional who will be busy in study and or research in Mathematics. The Mathematicians are seen engaged with the task related to numbers, space, logic, transformations, and the general ideas encompassing the concepts therein. Mathematicians do the research activities; find the solutions for the problems, etc.
  • Chartered Accountant: We see a rapid growth in the world of economy, careers in accounts and finance are gaining huge popularity and the most famous career field can be including other is Chartered Accountant. A Chartered accountant, as we see has specialization and expertise in auditing, accounting, and taxation.

 

  • Software Engineers: A highly prospective career; software engineers do design and develop the software. Software engineers apply the computer science principles and mathematical analysis for creating, testing, analyzing and evaluating the software applications and the systems which make the computer work and run as we see. Software engineers also have expertise in the theory of computing systems, the software structures, and the limitations and nature of the hardware to make sure the system will work in order and properly. The professionals in software field are going to have great career prospects in next decade.
  • Banking: The following areas in the banking, you can work  in – customer service, front desk, cash handling, accountant, savings account, current account, account opening, loan processing officer, mortgage loan underwriter, product marketing, back-end operations and sales executive, retail asset manager, property appraiser, recovery officer and customer service executive. Banks are providing loans for the developmental work like setting up businesses and agriculture projects and thereby help generate thousands of jobs opportunities in the finance and banking sector.
  • Teachers: If you are interested in numbers and if you like to make your career in teaching then there is a good opportunity being a mathematics teacher. A mathematics teacher has been in demand since the mathematics is the main subject in schooling. In India, the mathematics teachers are paid well. In the academic field, the mathematicians will be having a mix of responsibilities of teaching and research.

  • Computer Systems Analysts: The enterprises archive their goals by the help of the professionals who use IT tools. Most of the system analysts will be seen working with a specific type of computer systems – for example, accounting, business, financial systems or engineering and scientific system to prepare return-on - investment and cost-benefit analysis that helps management decide about the financial feasibility of the implementation of the proposed technology.

Choosing a career stream is not that much difficult. Just go by your interests and listen to your true calling. If you are having affinities with the numbers then you must go for M.Sc. in Mathematics. And if you find yourself ambitious to climb the ladder in corporate world then you will be more comfortable in administration and management.
