Civil engineers handle all construction work. They are involved in planning, research , survey and construction of all kinds of buildings as well as roads, airports, dams, traffic and transportation systems , irrigation and power plants, water supply and sewage disposal plants, pots and harbors, oil rigs etc. Basically they are responsible for planning and designing a projectand having it constructed to the required scale. Civil engineers also develop and maintain the nation's vital transportation and other infrastructure networks , improve public services , optimize the use of water and energy resources, upgrading housing and transportation systems and protect natural environment. Structural engineering, water management engineering , highway engineering and environmental engineering are some of the areas civil engineers specialize in, The civil engineers have to plan , research , survey and design the project and then get it constructed to the required scale. Civil engineers can work as consultant or work for organization like ONGC, railways and various other departments of state and central government. Employmentopportunities for these engineers exist in department of irrigation, public works, roads, airports, municipalcorporations.To become professor in civil engineer one has to pusue Tech in civil engineering followed by MTech and PHD
