UPSC conducts this CSE (Civil Services Examination) -IAS exam regularly every year. CSE consists of three stages namely Prelims, Mains and Personality Test to appear for this exam, you need to have any bachelor degree from a recognized university. You can even have a degree from Open Universities, provided the concerned Open University must be recognized duly by an UGC or competent central government authority. You have to simply pass the bachelor degree or you even can appear for an IAS exam when you are in the last year of your graduation, provided your result will be in your hand at the time of personality test which is the last stage of IAS CSE Exam. You will be happy knowing that UPSC always declares exam schedule in advance and this schedule always go as was planned. This coming year i.e. 2017, the notification with detailed syllabi and proposed dates for application will come on 22nd February 2017 and the Prelims test will be held on 18th June 2017 accordingly as par schedule. A prelim is an objective test and has multiple choice questions but the marks of PT don’t get added in the final score. There are two papers in prelim test; the first one is a General Studies Paper 1 and second is a CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) Paper 2. Paper second here is of qualifying nature. There is a negative marking in the Prelims and 1 mark will be deducted for three wrong answers. Both papers are of 200 marks each in prelims tests. After clearing the prelims stage you stand qualified for the Mains exam which is to be held on 28th October 2017. The Mains is descriptive and you have to write here on various subjects as specified in the official notifications of the UPSC. There are total nine papers in the Mains but two languages papers are of qualifying nature whereas other seven which contains four GS, Two Optional papers and one Essay paper are allotted 250 marks each. Thus Mains exam makes 1750 marks which are counted in the final score. Interviews i.e. Personality tests which have 275 marks maximum are conducted in the month of April and May and the Final list will come in the May or June every year. Final list is based on the score i.e. 2025 together in your Mains and Personality Test. The fee for this exam is only 100 Rupees except female and SC, ST, PH candidates who are exempted from the payment of the fee. For applications you have to go to the official website of UPSC i.e. www.upsc.gov.in. Now it’s time to toil and make efforts.

Wish you all the best.
