Hi, I am a B.tech graduate(in electronics) , working as an IT professional. I am looking for a career change to fashion industry. I want to pursue Masters in Fashion Management or Management in Fashion technology(as Post graduation). But I am not sure if my drawing skills will become an obstacle in the same(as I have no portfolio in drawing/designing). Also, what career should I choose in management, for eg: marketing or advertising or brand management? I am taking coaching classes for GAT exam from AFD(academy of fashion and design) Delhi. Should I go for drawing classes too?

Interesting shift of career. Right from Engineering to Fashion Management.
As such a masters degree in Fashion is generally pursued by students who have completed their Graduation in Fashion or Designing, whereby in masters they opt for a specialization. But never-the-less, you could opt for the course too.
Though what you have mentioned that not having a drawing portfolio should not be much of a hindrance for you. But its never too late to start off with it.
Since advertisement is quite similar to fashion , since both have to be well framed to catch the eye of the audience.
Wish you all the very best..........
Dear Aspirant,
Surprising to see almost daily that IT employees want to shift their jobs and sectors. It appears that you have found out what you really like after spending time, energy and money in BTech degree.
Are you really sure that IT industry is not for you now and permanently? I really feel that you should really think again whether it is Fashion Designing or any other else career you would love and be happy into.
To be best sure of what suits you for your career, I would suggest you to undergo an online psychometric test from CareerGuide which will help you understand yourself in respect of your strengths, weaknesses, emotional quotient, etc. and will exactly tell you which career is ideal for you.You can then call counsellors to discuss.
Best wishes!
