1. Supervising:A chef needs to supervise the staff members so that the right feedback can be provided to them. It's an important step in managing the staff.

2. Critical and Analytical Things:Chefs do need to have sharp critical and analytical mind. They need to use logical reasoning and explanations in order to come up with most effective solutions.

3. People Skills:It's a great skill to work effectively with the people. As a Chef one has to constantly work with the kitchen staff. The ability to work with people, communicate effectively with them, encouraging them to contribute more - these are the skills that are quite important.


4. Time Management:Chefs need to be very good at time management. Time is an important constraint in their work. One has to manage it accordingly in order to meet the requirements.

5. Communication Skills:These are very important so that a Chef can communicate his/her ideas nicely with other members. These help to increase the productivity at workplace.

6. Learning:The learning for a Chef never stops. Every day they have to learn new things about the food world, about the taste of people, new innovations. They are important. One has to be quite enthusiastic about learning these things through different media channels or internet.

7. Decision Making:The Chef has to be a good decision maker by doing the suitable analysis. There will be a number of circumstances when a chef will have to decide upon the food quality, personnel requirements and even dealing with crisis situations.

Therefore, it's important for any Chef to learn things beyond their area of expertise which is cooking. The additional skills are always helpful in providing you an edge over others.
