What is the NDA exam about?

Every year, this exam is conducted by the union public service commission (UPSC), and the recruitment of the candidates of army, navy, air force wings are conducted through the National Defence Academy Entrance Exam. This exam is held twice a year. who can apply?

There are certain eligibility criteria regarding application for NDA. Some of them are mentioned below:

  1. Age limit- Candidates should be older than 15 years and less than 18 years. Only unmarried males can apply for the examination
  2. Females and married males are not allowed to apply for the examination.
  3. Education qualification differs according to academics. 

Army wing-  must have passed class 12th or HSC or equivalent from any recognized board or University.

Navy wing- 12th or HSC with physics and Mathematics.

  1. Candidates must be citizens of India or should have an Indian citizenship certificate.
  2. Candidates should be physically fit and should have ideal height.

How will you get Selected?

The selection procedure is a long one. The process is as follows-

  1. Online application: you have to apply for the examination online from the official website link.
  2. After successfully applying, one should wait for the release of admit card. Once the admit card is released one can download it from the official website.
  3. Written exam: this is conducted in two phases namely, the mathematics part and the general ability test part. The exam is 900 marks and if you get the minimum qualifying marks, you will be called for the SSB interview round.
  4. SSB Interview: this is the final selection round and conducted for intelligence and personality test.

How will you prepare?

This is the most important part before applying for any exams i.e., the proper preparation for the examination. you need to know the syllabus, question pattern, subjects and practice those wholeheartedly. Here, I will give you a rough idea about how to prepare for the NDA examination.

  • You will cover the portions of algebra, matrices, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, etc., from the class 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 NCERT books.
  • For the GAT (General ability test) paper, you have to read chemistry, general science, history, geography, history, and current affairs. There is a section for the English language too.
  • You can also get Books, available at the stores.

During the training, they will give a certain amount of stipend of about 21000 INR. And it will gradually increase along with promotion and experience. The salary of the chief army staff is about 90000 INR.
