Historians - Career Queries

A Historian is a person who researches, studies and writes about the past, and is regarded as an authority on it. Historians are concerned with the continuous, methodical narrative and research of past events as relating to the human race; as well as the study of all history in time. They research, analyze, record, and interpret the past as recorded in sources, such as government and institutional records, newspapers and other periodicals, photographs, interviews, films, and unpublished manuscripts, such as personal diaries and letters.

Hi Sarah.. It seems like you are interested to pursue a course in History and want to specialize in history of music. You may can also go for musicology course too. The better option is to go for higher studies in Histroy and to go for research in Music after post graduation. Some of the good options for higher studies in History are Hyderabad university, JNU, Lovely Professional University, Ashoka university etc. For Musicology courses are available in MS university Baroda, university of Kolkatha etc. 

Hi Mubeen.. There is no issue if you are changing your stream after your graduation unless and until the Post-graduation course is demanding some thing. If you have scored more than 50% in graduation, you can go for your interested field. Some of the leading universities for MA History are Hyderabad university, Delhi University, Lovely Professional University, Jamia Milia Islamia etc. There is no issue if you are joining in any institutes in other states in India. Better you can take BA(History), BA- MA(History) Integrated course 5 years so saving one year and one year money. Better you can do reputed institute like Delhi University, Amity and Lovely professional university..etc

A Bachelors degree in Political Science and History are good options for you if you are interested to do research, teaching or in competitive exams like Civil Service exam. Good institutes to pursue any course in these subjects are Delhi university, Hyderabad university, Lovely Professional university, Ashoka university, Shivnadr university etc. You may can also get special training for competitive exams as part of you course  if you are joining in  institutes like Lpu. Scholarships are also offering to the meritorious students in some institutes.
