Stream selection must be like a filtering process. Just like separating Chaff from Wheat. In the tender age of class X a student is not mature enough to take his stream selection decision. The parents have not yet released them from the safety cocoon and the friends have such strong emotional links that they don't want to leave the friend at any cost. Eventually the student compromises on stream selection. The decision is taken by either Parents or friends or relatives etc but not on any scientific basis.
An assessment based on stream selection can be really useful for giving students a general idea about what they might be good at and helps one learn how to explore Streams and associated career opportunities with them.
It is important for a student to take a decision regarding the stream to pursue after Class 10 which is in synchronicity with their interests and their aptitudes. Every student, ideally, would like to choose a stream that will enable them to have a career that leaves them fulfilled giving mental peace and satisfaction.
The first most important decision which the student would be taking in career is choice of streams in which he would further pursue a career. In this report stream preference after 10 is aligned in the order of 1-4. Where 1 represent most favorable stream to proceed with and 4 represent least favorable stream to proceed with. Whatever stream the student may select, he should put in his best efforts, which would surely lead to path of success. This report is to help him understand the inclination towards a particular stream and identify best stream on basis of his aptitude, ability and interest that can be pursued after class 10. The test is meticulously designed by panel of psychologists, academic counselors and experienced psychiatrist to help you in your first important decisions.
There was no availability of a test suitable in accordance with the Education system prevalent here that gives major four options to the student in class X to decide for XI. There was a need based generation of Test in which all the four streams could be assessed both in terms of Aptitude as well as Interest.
Once all the scores are there the interpretation of the score are done in a way that is easily understood by the students taking the test. The scores are represented graphically by the help of bar diagram.
Fig. - Bar Diagram - Case 1. Score Presentation for Stream Suggestor Test
The preferences of streams are listed and the scores are shown to the student's in terms of the bar diagram so that he or she can make a comparison of the aptitude that they have and interest they have in a particular stream. The graphical representation is easy for the student to understand and also it becomes easy for him to compare all the streams together. The interpretation of scores is defined in a way that a person who has no knowledge of the test also will be able to understand what the best preferred stream is for him/her.
Case 1. Example: Student A of class X appeared for the Stream Suggestor test and got the following results as per the graph.
In this case study the student A of class X seems to be bright and intelligent. He achieved High scores in three Subjects i.e. Maths Biology and Commerce in terms of Aptitude. He scored medium in one subject i.e. Humanities in terms of Aptitude.
Similarly if we go through the interest results his interest is very specific and high in one subject that is maths. It is low for Biology. It is medium for Commerce and humanities.
The student was given guidance for Stream selection keeping the results and his Aptitude in mind. Maths was given the first preference looking up to his Aptitude and interest. It suggests that Maths will give maximum number of career opportunities. Followed by Commerce because of high Aptitude and medium interest. Then followed by Biology because of high Aptitude and low interest. Lastly humanities because of medium interest and Aptitude and less career opportunities. The student came with a open and unconditional mind set and was pleased to choose the subject of his choice
