SBI PO exam is conducted every year by the State Bank of India to select the most eligible candidates from all over the country. The examination process is conducted in three phases – Prelims, Mains, GD/ interview round. The notification regarding the application will be released by September- October of 2021 and 2000 officers are recruited in different offices of SBI. Moreover, as it is a national exam, one can be posted anywhere in India. The registration process is completely online. 

SBI PO Vacancy:

Every year the vacancy list is released along with the registration notification during the month of September-October. There were 2000 seats vacant during 2020.

Eligibility criteria:

One must keep in mind the criteria before opting for the SBI PO examination. the criteria mention the fulfilment of the following-

  • Nationality – The candidate must hold Indian citizenship.
  • Age limit – The minimum age limit for applying is 25years and maximum up to 30 years.
  • Educational qualifications– a candidate must be a graduate from any recognized university and any discipline. Final semester students can also apply for the same but have to show proof during the interview.


Number of attempts

A general candidate can appear in the examination up to four times. OBC candidates can appear for up to 7 years. However, there are no restrictions for SC/ST.

Selection Procedure

The selection process is conducted in three phases – Prelim’s round, Main’s round, and interview round. Each round holds equal importance and one have to qualify in each round to proceed for the next and the final round. 

SBI PO PRELIMS-

  1. This is the first basic round. 
  2. This is an online objective test exam which is for 1 hour.
  3. The examination holds three sections namely, English reasoning, reasoning ability, and quantitative aptitude. 
  4. No sectional cut-off is there.

SBI PO MAINS-

  1. There are four sections in this examination. there will be an additional language paper of English which will be taken separately on the same day.
  2. It consists of 155 MCQ’s and the time duration is 3 hrs.
  3. There will be separate timing for different sections.
  4. For each negative answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
