Class 10th and 12th are the most crucial years in the life of a student. The pressure to score well is real. The only way to avoid last-minute hassle and tension is to make a realistic timetable and start studying from the beginning of the year. When you utilize your time properly and revise your syllabus, no one can stop you from being the topper of your class.

Since the syllabus is vast, you need to give time to all the subjects equally whether you like it or not and practice a lot! Here’s a handy guide for students to ace their board exams.

START STUDYING FROM BEGINNING

No one can stress this point enough. By the time you reach Class 9th, your teachers and parents start asking you to give more attention to your studies as you will have boards next year. Well, they are right! If you don’t start studying for long hours, you will face lots of trouble later. Class 10th and 12th demand a lot of your time. You need to devote 7-8 hours every day apart from school from starting of the session.

BE CONSISTENT

Every student is excited to see the new books every year, but the excitement lasts for a very short period. But you can’t make this mistake during your boards. You need to be consistent with your studies and follow the timetable you made religiously. You must dedicate time to every subject, every day, and try to increase the length of your study sessions.

USE A STUDY TECHNIQUE

Just going through the text or mugging up concepts won’t help you score great marks. That’s where study techniques like the Pomodoro method etc. In this method, you need to study productively for 25 minutes and then take a break for 5 minutes. You can repeat this combination several times until you are done studying all the subjects. You can adjust it according to your needs, like studying for 50 minutes followed by a break of 10 minutes. If you don’t like studying alone, there are a lot of YouTube channels that live stream, and students from all over the world study along with the video. There are some websites too that offer study rooms that are live 24/7.

BREAK YOUR SYLLABUS INTO SMALLER, ACHIEVABLE TARGETS

You can’t complete the whole in a short period and, you should not even try to. The syllabus is designed to be completed over 1 year and, that’s how it should be. Plan out your lessons equally over the months. Give yourself more to complete during your vacations so that you are prepared by the time Half-yearly or other tests come. This way you will have time to focus on revision.

PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOUR TEACHERS ARE SAYING

They have been teaching students for a long, long time and, some of them even take part in checking the Board Answer sheets. They know what could come in the exam and how you should be framing your answers. Note down the tips they give you during class ad try to implement them when you practice at home.

BUY SUBJECT-WISE GUIDE BOOKS

The best thing you can do in your school life is invest in books. There are a lot of good guides available for every subject as well as 10-year question paper collections. These are good for practice and give you an idea of what could come in the actual exams. These guides also contain short notes for every chapter which is helpful while revisions.

PRACTICE SAMPLE PAPERS

The sample papers are available in the books as well as on the official website. Try to give as many as you can. The best time to try out these papers is actually during the hours your boards would take place. For example – from 11 A.M to 1 P.M.

PRACTICE MATHEMATICS AND THE SCIENCE SUBJECTS

By practice, we mean solving the numerical. Don’t look at the solution unless and until you have tried the sum at least twice. When you solve the sum on your own, you will remember the solution for a very long time. You should focus equally on the theory.

Conclusion

Follow these steps regularly and you won’t be stressing at the last moment like most students. When you’re prepared, you won’t be under immense pressure, which will, in turn, help you attempt your exams efficiently. Now go ahead and ace your exams!
