To become a Professor, you need to first clear the UGC NET / SET / SLET exam in your respective subject. After clearing this test, you will be eligible for position of Associate Professor. To become a Professor as a designation, you need to compulsorily have a PhD.

Interesting query.But my question is what is " Professor of Professor".
Since here you have not mentioned your current qualification.Let me assume here, you are pursuing your Graduation.
Firstly to be a professor, you need to be a master in your subject. You need to be thorough in the subject right from its conception to its evolution, you need to know the subject in and out.Hence a specialization in the subject is a must. This means that after Graduation, you need to pursue Masters degree in that subject or specialization.
Post this, you can apply to colleges, and begin working as an associate professor, but mind you to get a permanent position, you need to clear the NET /SET examination.
Along with teaching, another criteria to be called as a "Professor" is pursuing a PhD program in your area of specialization.Meanwhile you can continue as an Associate professor clearing the NET/SET and at the same time prepare for your thesis or research project.
